    Reloading New Operating System
    « on: June 04, 2012, 12:02:00 PM »
I have a Toshiba Satellita laptop computer, I was running windows 7 and I started haveing problems with some of my programs and decided to reload with windows vista. I formatted my drive and lost my windows 7 operating system. When I start to load windows vista it goes through all of the install until when I start the windows install it gives me this message:
This computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disks controller is enabled in the computers BIOS menu.
After I select Drive Options (Advanced) It gives me another message saying :
Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation.
The windows install disk is for 64-bit software only.
My computer is System Type: x64-based PC
    System Directory: c:\windows\system32
I also know that it was running x64 and x32 based internet. Could it be that I am trying to load the wrong windows based operating system. It only shows 2 partions
    Disk 0 partition 2 (453.4GB)  Primary
Disk 0 partition 3 (HDD Recovery) Primary, It will not load to partition 2 or 3.

    Welcome!
Computer Hope is the number one location for free computer help.
The forum will help everyone with all computer questions.

    Which Toshiba Satellita laptop computer?
How long and you owned it? Do you have the documentation?
It was running Windows 7 at one time.

Later it tarted to miss behave - Right?
Whosoever told you to install Vista instead of Windows 7 gave you very poor advice. The recovery partition is how you reload the original OS.

Have you already looked over information from the Toshiba web site?
How to use the recovery partition is well-documented.

What exactly does it say on this Windows CD
