I had the misfortune of being the victim of a ddos attack the other day. While I've taken a few prevention measures, I believe I could benefit from a new firewall program. So I ask this to the spectators of the computer hope forum: What firewall software do you use?

What OS are you now using? Windows has a standard firewall. There are a number of both free and paid programs you can get.
Do you use a router? Newer routers have good firewalls in the firmware of the router. Such can be setup by the user to black things from certain sites.
IMHO, using a firewall router is better if you have many PCs on the same network.

Why would someone do a DDOS attack on a single PC ? ?
Did you recently tick someone off ? ?
I highly doubt it would happen...unless it's someone you know personally...the odds of it being random are astronomical.

The DDoS penetrated your router and made it onto your PC?  Or it was launched from your LAN?  What are the circumstances?

Most routers from consumer grade up now have DDoS and other intrusion detection capabilities, so your solution may lie there, but without more information it's difficult to say for sure.
