    need help. wifi not connecting
    « on: August 21, 2013, 06:56:45 AM »
hello. I hace a linksys wifi and ran into some problems that I can't seem to figure out.
Yesterday I was trying to hook a laptop to the internet. It wouldn't allow me to connect to the wifi, giving me a error message, something like, you do not have the correct settings or something.
so i hook it up wired, to google the problem. while I am doing this my PS3 is wifi connects and watching netflix just fine.
A few minutes of surfing and it disconnects me from internet on my PS3. Same for the PS3 in the other room.
Since then I have not been able to access any wifi. not on either ps3 or on the ipod.
I keep putting in the WEP code things but it just acts like there is no signal, even though the ps3 says it has a signal strength of 90% and the laptop sees it as well but won't connect.

Any thoughts on what is wrong? I tried unplugging everything and left it all unplugged over night. I pushed the little reset button on the Linksys, can't figure out what is wrong.

So this is a new problem? Did you already
    • Turn off the modem/router for 3 minutes.
    • Turn non and off all you devices.
    • Call your service company.
Is this Cable, DSL, Microwave or Satellite service?

    ^If the above doesnt work.

Try converting your wep to WPA.

Its much easier to connect to and it usually fixes the issue.

Also change your channel as well.

Sometimes if it is on automatic it can cause issues, try channel 1, 7, or 11.

    Let us know the results!

I posted this link elsewhere. I repeat it here to help others with wireless problems. In some not so rare cases you can not use Wi-F ™ as you want.
The page  is from HP .  (Requires PDF reader.)
    http://www.hp.com/rnd/library/pdf/WiFi_Bluetooth_coexistance.pdf
The issue bis not just Bluetooth. The Wi-F ™ system is subject to interference. The problem will not get better until the FCC and the industry introduce better stuff for civilian use. Meanwhile, you can try to make it work for you.
