external Harddrive

I have a 250 gb external harddrive
my problem is that i cant acess my harddrive anymore meaning i cant acess my music or any documents that's in there.
The last thing i can remeber is Having a file renames to exe by mistake my brother because it was some documents that i had from other pc so its was compressed to a rar file. and i try to change it to .rar and my avg gave me a alart and i click continue by accident.
Is there a way i can recover my files? :(

Did it delete it thinking it was virus infested when you clicked OK? Are other files still on there, or you can't access it at all? Can you try it on another machine?

It doesnt even open the drive
i try it on other pc and it still wouldnt open
