For more help, you need to supply more  information.
    Which model of Lenovo laptop?
    How new?
Did it first have Windows 7? Or was Windows 8 installed from the factory.
Did you ever make any backups?
Did you not have a AV program?
How do you know it was crypto locker?

Have you considered contacting The vendor or the manufacturer?

Tell more about your computer's specification... like the previous OS, memory, etc. :-\

        General Reference:
The lament "I formatted my Hard Drive and now can't install Windows " is becoming common. Moral: Don't format the hard drive unless you are told to do so by the factory. Why? Any new laptop from a OEM may have OEM specific code on the hard drive that is not found on all versions of a Windows 8 install DVD.

        This is by design.

The topic is well covered in Tom's Hardware and other forums. And it is not a new story. Here is one from 2012:
Formatted laptop preinstalled windows8, now i cant install windows 8

        Just trying to help.

As I mentioned, this issue has be considered elsewhere.

The Windows 8 installation by the manufacturer is a custom install that  differs from the standard Windows 8 DVD you would get from a retail store.

The manufactures and Microsoft know all about this. It is a deliberate design to reduce piracy and malware issues in the future. This has bee discussed elsewhere.

The solution comes from the manufacture of that make and model. You have to get specific instructions and/or materials from them.

Can't install Windows8? Is your installer can't be recognized? If so, go to BIOS setup and choose CD as 1st boot priority if your installer is CD/DVD. Or maybe your optical drive is not working. If you are using a flashdrive as an installer, make sure no other data stored in it except Windows 8 setup.

There are lots of things to consider about your problem of "can't install windows 8". Maybe you could be more specific or elaborate the scenario.  :-*

The article is extensive and well-written. However, it requires the user to have a Windows 8 DVD that will work on the target computer. It should be that same as used by the factory.
As stated earlier, the manufacturer is the primary source of help for this kind of issue.

Geek-9pm! Just saying that the HDD is empty doesn't tell everything about the problem. Unable to install an OS is a very general scenario. There are lots to consider why windows 8 can't be installed not just about the HDD.  >:(

There was nothing wrong with the advice provided by equilibrium in his post for a formatted hd. You'd be better off monitoring your own posts rather than those of others.

I get this when I try to install win 8 - We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. for more information see the setup log. As far as i can see there is no partition table. No restore partition. I cannot chose disk nr. nor volume in Diskpart. I think I need help to build up the GPT/UEFI up again.
