So when I try to run Google Chrome Portable, I get the 'encountered a problem a needs to close' error, when I use an installed Chrome, when it connects to the internet I get 'installation failed because your computer does not meet minimum hardware requirments for google chrome'

I also get the 'encountered' message when trying to run Opera, Avant, and portable desktop programs like 'Geek Uninstaller' and any portable browser, except Firefox, and a lot of sites will not open using IE....Also certain games give me the same encountered error....
My computer is running on just a week fresh install, so I have no idea why this is happening, ran Malwarebytes and didnt find anything....
On a side note, my sound is no longer working, although it was when I picked up the computer from my friend....

Can anyone help me out? I'm baffled.....

After installing a new motherboard you should do a clean install of the OS.

So its safe to assume a 'repair' install wouldn't be good enough? Thats what the guy did....

hey do check your device manager if all drivers are working properly. Update any driver you see marked with a yellow exclamation mark.
STEPS to access device manager settings in windows xp
        1. Click Start
        2. Click Settings
        3. Click Control Panel
        4. In the Control Panel, double-click the Systems icon.
        5. In the System Properties window, click the Hardware tab.
        6. On the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button and you should see something similar to the example below.
Here is a link below to check if there are any issues.

As for your portable softwares confirm if they are all running on 32bit as your OS and also consider updating your browser to latest version.

        Cheers!

Yes, have done all those things, everything in device manger reads normal, and have tried updated browsers many times, thanx though....

A repair install will sometimes work, but a clean install is always your best option.

as Allan  is mentioning a clean install is always better. Try to scan with an updated antivirus for malware and viruses.

Don't worry about malware. Do a clean install.

EXACTLY how did you do the installation?

After doing a clean install you must download and install all appropriate drivers, starting with the chipset driver.

I have my windows install CD, and a back cd of the drivers, so I installed over what was there before, there was nothing left of the previous install....

Please look in device manager again. Are there any yellow or red symbols?

If not, let's check the ram: download memtest (http://memtest.org/). Burn it to a cd using a dedicated .iso burning utility (http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm), make sure the cd drive is at the top of the boot order in bios, then boot to the newly created cd and run the utility.
