Help with adding new font to XP
    « on: November 23, 2005, 07:51:41 PM »
    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out here. I have a new font that has a file extension of .shx. It's for AutoCAD drawing software program. So what i would like to do is to add this font to windows font. Is there a way to get around this?

Is it possible to just change the file extension from .shx to whatever file extension for windows font?

BTW, what is the file extension for windows XP Pro?

Thank you very much in advance and look forward to hearing from you.

Copying  and Pasting those fonts to Fonts folder under Windows doesn't help you?

Windows true type fonts have .ttf extension.

      More are here

There are also some converters but I don't know any freeware.

Does the AutoCAD program have a font folder of its own? Read the programs Help on adding fonts.

"SHX is the file extension for the Shape entities file associated with AutoCAD and with ArcView."

Yes, AutoCAD does have its own font folder.

Not sure, i think i agree with you that i need a third party software to convert the .shx to .ttf.

Anyway, i have a go first and let you know if that's possible or not.

        Thank you in advance

I think you'll find that .shx files are AutoCAD specific but you could always ask here [email protected]
