not to sound like i am being sarcastic cause im not but you may want to consider simply buying a new motherboard and processor. The one you are trying to repair and use is so old and outdated that even if you got it to work, there isnt much online that you could do. Again please dont thing i am trying to be condecending, just giving you my humble opinion.

I donot mean disrespect, but I donot believe the person in question is looking for an opinion.

Perhaps he has in mind a certain use for his computer?

A buddy of mine had a similar problem.  His mother board simply was not capable of addressing high volume hard drives (above 8 or 10 GB).  He had to exchange his drive for one with lower capacity.  :-/
You are much appreciated..     Thank you ,

I suddenly recall how I obtained my 30GB Seagate. It was due to limitations on my Asus motherboard.

If that MB is incapable of seeing a large drive:

Go into the BIOS, and the Basic or General settings. On the first HD (the 20GB drive), set the Drive to User and the Type to Normal or Large or CHS (not LBA) so you can edit the cylinder count, whichever of those settings gives you 16 heads and 63 sectors and however many cylinders. Set the cylinder count to 16382. Then return the Type to LBA, but leave the Drive as User. It should show near 8020MB as size.

This will let you boot to an 8GB partition on the 20GB drive, kinda lame I know but it should get you going.

You need a BIOS upgrade, though for a machine that old, I think I'd just bite the bullet and pick up a new MB/processor and move on from there.
