My wife has a back room office and my space is separated
from hers by a bathroom.  We both have XP's and I have
Moziilla as the browser with DSL service.

What are the absolute mininum components that we need
to set up a two-computer, wi-fi network?

I believe you would require two wireless network cards and one wireless router.

You could get by with two wireless cards using AdHoc mode, but I have to strongly suggest the Wireless modem.  Since one computer would be next to the router, you'd only need one additional wireless card for the remote machine, a wire will do the trick locally.

A wireless router has wired ports as well.  I'm assuming at least one of the computers is next to the DSL modem.  Of course, I'm also assuming that the DSL modem has an Ethernet connection, not USB.  Since you didn't give any equipment specifications, this is guesswork...
