I doubt that.

In this case it was justified. As merlin was already banned, he could not be considered a member OR a guest, and there was no validity to his continued presence.

I thought that IP looked different, but there were so many different IPs Merlin was using it was bound to happen. He's been unbanned.

I don't doubt that there have been many second chances given to many people incuding myself.
Second chances could be given without the poster even being aware of it if Admin just decides to overlook small rule breakages.
You all know where I stand on this, I think it has escalated out of all proportion and fueled by ALL concerned.
A question?..... Why was Merlin_2 banned?

I don't see how this will prevent Merlin from posting. If he can post as a guest, he can create a new account, can't he?

Many of the IPs and IP ranges he used are on the ban list. However, like others mentioned there is still ways of getting around the bans. However, that being said it's a lot harder having to register an unique e-mail address and then register on the forums just to post message and have that account banned. I really hope he doesn't have that much time and just hope he and other trouble makers move on and do something more productive. But incase he does come back, I'm going to once again try spending more time on the forums and just delete his posts and ban his accounts if he does try.

As mentioned in previous posts I've given Merlin PLENTY of chances to correct his ways. I've sent him PM messages in the forum about the conduct of some of his messages (before the account ban) in addition to sending him e-mails regarding his actions (before and after the ban). It's obvious I'm talking to a deaf ear because over the last month he has just continued to abuse the forums and my time.

From what we've seen so far, my guess is that he'll make time.

Aside from being somewhat cryptic I don't remember any Merlin posts that broke the rules before the ban.

After the ban so much was said in the heat of the moment by everyone I think all the posts should be removed, they do nothing more than reflect badly on us all.

Either way, that's a matter for you, I hope the new registration requirement doesn't limit the people we get to help in here.
