can't see my desktop
« on: August 06, 2004, 06:39:42 PM »
My friend installed a new hard drive and to do it, he made my computer a slave to try to save my files from my old hard drive. It worked, however, when I brought it home and hooked everything up, my computer booted normally, went through all the screens, except it would not go all the way into the desktop. I think something has to be configured in the setup...Any suggestions

I assume when you say 'made my computer a slave' you mean he made your older harddisk a slave, correct?

And what are 'all the screens' according to you? Does it show errors? Does it refuse to load Windows? Does it 'hang' when trying to load Windows?

I assume you have set your harddisk back to Master when you installed it on your system. Either place the jumper on Master or on Cable Select and then configure it properly in the BIOS.
