Assuming your Dell computer does not have any type of special setup (which I would imagine it wouldn't) you should have no issues installing an upgraded power supply in the computer. By special setup I mean desktops such as a slimline case or special mounting brackets for the power supply.

A power supply is one of the easier things to install in the computer. As can be seen from the below document explaining how to install a power supply there is not usually many steps involved.

Most Dell's have historically used proprietary power supplies - mounting and correct connectors can be difficult. I would check with Dell BEFORE you innvest some money in that solution.

a few other companies offer power supplies for Dell's but you have to google them out, and they're not necessarilyh cheap!

Let us know what your research shows for that model.

:) Yes, i've found a power supply for my computer at http://store.911forpcs.com/4600.html.

I currently have a HP-P2507FW 250 Watt power supply and this one is a 480 Watt power supply. It's only $40 dollars too. Check it out and see for yourself. It looks good, but what do you think?

Good find. Looks like a good alternative replacement with an indication of being compatible with your computer. Looking at the power supply I can't see anything special about it, but it could just be the inside of the case that is proprietary. I don't think you would have a problem with a third-party non dell standard power supply. But unfortunately cant give you a 100% guarantee about that.
