Hello Guys,

I recently encountered a problem when attempting to download a version of Norton Antivirus. After I followed the instructions, I restarted as instructed... Once I restarted every program or file that I have on my laptop did not open... I can click on my computer and see the files, folders, and programs, but I cant run anything for the exception of the internet... What do I do ? I cant open anything and I have way to much stuff on here.... Thanks...

Re-satrt in safe mode and uninstall Norton.
Install AVG and malware protection to suit your operating system.

Sorry bro', but when I restart what do i press to go to safe mode.... It feels as if all the programs are locked...

Just to say, computer hope IS great... What makes it great is that the people are willing to help with the issues posted....

I got into safe mode but i was unable to resolve the problem... I cant even get into my control panel... When I try to get into my control panel it tells me ( " That windows cannot create a shortcut here. Do you want to place the shortcut on the desktop instead " )... What do i do?

I found it on LimeWire... My mistake was probably not scanning it prior to attempting anything... I went to:

http://www.ewido.net/en/

but it did not allow me to run any of the programs...

I guess i'm making it harder for you guys....

I guess no one knows how to rectify this issue.... I took a look at all the properties for every file and folder that I have and it says that it opens with an unknown application... I can't even open a music file by attempting to attach the windows media player program... I can't double click on a file or folder and open it, the only way is to go to start, go to my computer, click on folders, and open it from the folders window... This is nuts... Any Suggestions.

Download, install & update...
CLEANUP
Ccleaner
ANTI SPYWARE
Ad-Aware
Spybot S&D
Microsoft Antispyware (W2k & XP)
ANTI VIRUS
AVG Free (Set options to 'scan all files')
ANTI TROJAN
EWIDO (W2k & XP)

Turn off System Restore if applicable. (ME & XP users)

Run Ccleaner
Run Ad-Aware
Run Spybot
Run Microsoft Antispyware
Run AVG Free
Run Ewido

Re-start in Safe Mode
Re-run AVG Free

Re-start in Normal Mode
Turn on System Restore if applicable. (ME & XP users)

Okay Guys, this is what is see on my computer... If you look, the files have not attachments to be opened with... I cant even open the my computer folder, the my network places, or the all folder... I can go online, but also when I double click on the recycle bin, it creates a shortcut of the recycle bin to my desktop... Wow... What to do... Safe Mode does the same... Here are a few pictures...

romeonehmia...... Wow ......your in real trouble by the look of it .
I'm guessing you had no antivirus on when you downloaded Norton from a limewire user .........
I use limewire to test how effective differant anti virus programs are .........
D/Ling music is one thing ..but the programs there are riddled with viruses and trojans ......Please understand the Norton had nothing to do with your issue .....If it was my pc ...I would format it and reload the operating system and chalk it up to a lesson learned ......... Or .....if you have valueable documents on the old drive , I would consider buying a new hard drive and save the old one and perhaps someone may be able to access it .
Do you have a floppy drive by any chance or is the cd - rom operational ?
