Unable to ping or use tracert

I was having problems using ping or tracert in the command mode.
Using Microsoft article 314452 I don't get an error anymore.  Which stated i was missing a virtual driver.
I can use other commands just not ping or tracert...

any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the file ping.exe, type ping & hit enter, see what comes back.
What happens when you type ping www.computerhope.com <enter>

When i type ping.exe it comes back with the usage and options menu.

the other two ping and ping www.comuterhope.com only bring me back to the dos prompt.

the ping.exe file is system32 folder and the i386 folder.

using ping.exe www.computerhope.com worked
also the tracert.ext www.computerhope.com worked also.

Search your computer for ping.*
If you find ping.com delete it/them.
