    Newbie Zoom slideshow question
    « on: November 02, 2021, 07:16:21 AM »
If this is not the right forum for my question, please direct me to the right one.

I have never done Zoom before, but now need to participate in one. It is an informal family and friends meeting. I would like to have a slideshow played during the meeting, either at my end or at the host's end. I found this tutorial on showing PowerPoint slideshows for Zoom:

    https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203395347-Screen-sharing-a-PowerPoint-presentation

But my slideshow is not made with PowerPoint. I assume that such a slideshow can also be used for Zoom. For instance, can Step #1 in the above link "Open the PowerPoint file you want to present." be replaced with "Open the ANOTHER SLIDESHOW file you want to present."? Or is there another way?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes,  you can share pretty much anything that appears on your screen. No need for it to be PP.

      Thanks.

What I would like the screen to look like is:

      - me speaking first without a slideshow background
      - followed by the slideshow playing in full screen, without my presence
      - after the slideshow is finished, me speaking again to end my session

      Is this doable, and how?

You will see a red "share screen" button in Zoom. When you are ready, click on the button and choose the item / app on your desktop that you want to share. It will appear in the middle of the screen and participants will be relegated to smaller windows (you will still be able to see them, and they you). When you start sharing the screen, the button will change to "stop sharing". Just click on that to return to the original layout.

Why don't you just make a "practice" call with a friend to familiarize yourself with everything?

        Thanks again.

Is it possible to play the slideshow in full screen, without anything else on it?

Yet to get a Zoom account. When I do, I will definitely practice.
