Sound Issue

A while ago I purchased a PC with Win 10 preinstalled. I installed the following NCH Sound Editor and Realtek audio drive. I very rarely use the NCH Sound Driver until tonight.

I opened the sound Editor, when clicked on the red record button there was no wave form in the window pane, even though I could hear audio in my headphones. As you can see on the left I've selected stereo mix, which I know is enabled. On the right the device is set to stereo mix. What  can I can;t understand is why are the configure, set default,  properties and apply buttons greyed out on playback, recording and sounds?

Although I've had 1266 Views, I've had no replies. I'm sure someone can offer me an explanation as to why I cannot record audio, even though Stereo Mix is enabled.

Did you try clicking on Microphone or line in?

I don't have a microphone or anything I can plug into the line-in.

If you're trying to record audio you need to input some sound either with a microphone or line-in.

Good. I use Audacity myself. It's very good.
