Big error when installing (oleaut32.dll)
« on: February 12, 2006, 09:31:04 AM »
Hello everybody,

I have some serious problems;
Everytime i try to install something, it crashes with the well known error window. (send report/don't send report)
It says that an error has caused in 'oleaut32.dll'

I have tryed the following:

- updates, updates, updates.
- Direct X 9.0c.
- Service Pack 2 installed.
- in save mode, tryed to delete it, and replaced with new one, didn't work.

So who can help me???

thank you,
Jasper

Yeah i did,

1.  It's an older file (from dll-files)
2.  It says I can't replace it. (I think because windows is still running)
3.  In save-Mode I can replace it, but still gives me the same error :(

I only have got it with some installers, (from macrovision)
Like, I CAN install Need for Speed Most Wanted, but NOT GTA San Andreas.

Any more tips?
Cheers,
Jasper

Do you have a legal Windows CD if you need to reinstall? How do you suppose you got in this shape? When did this start? Can you overwrite the file from the recovery console?

I do have a legal CD
It started, I think when auto-updating installed Service Pack2
Before that, The PC was gone through a complete format.
I have run all scans you can possibibly imagine, with no errors, virusses, or whatever.

Can you overwrite the file from the recovery console?
Uhm, I don't know exactly what you mean, I am Dutch and my English isn't that good :( Can you be a bit more specific?

Thanks,
Jasper
