Okay. ^^ I've only had to run diagnostics once (about 7 years or more ago), so I didn't know where/how they were supposed to be done. Maybe the MaxBlast bootdisk already has a diagnostic on it?

I don't know about MaxBlast4, I still use mbplus2.exe or Powermax

I'm outa here!

You've been watching too many American television series.

I don't watch TV, American or otherwise.

And you don't breath either.

I don't breath? Is that a Macism?

I agree, and I do my best to keep my hubby's system protected, but sometimes hubris gets the best of even the safest people. ^^

You are telling me. Some of these places buy in drives that have been on the wholesaler's shelf for years dirt cheap, the product of massive over-production.

Find a more reliable source.

Eww.. I bought my drive from Newegg.com, and they seem to go through things pretty quick.. o.O;

Update: I ran the basic 90 second diagnostic and.. well, it passed everything, and after the test, I got a General Failure error and it resorted back to false dos, but still had the PowerMax program visible, along with the dos style text in the top left of the screen.  :o

I'm running the big test now.

I'm double checking, but I believe I do. Does the BIOS install with a bootdisk?

Usually, if you have a floppy drive. Check the mainboard manual. Sometimes you just order a new BIOS chip.

Flashing the BIOS

Support for bigger hard drives - The BIOS allows the motherboard to accept hard drives up to a certain size. Since you got the computer, the maximum size for hard drives has increased. You decide to install a newer and bigger hard drive, but the BIOS does not recognize it or only recognizes part of the drive. Upgrading the BIOS can resolve this problem.

Okay. I'm checking the CD that came with the motherboard to see if it says what version of the BIOS it has or see if it has an update on it at all, since PowerMax is still running it's check. ^^;

That check is going to take some time on a 250 GB drive. Time for some strong coffee.

Ooookay, I ran the PowerMax diagnostics (currently running the 'Burn-In Test', but I've ran everything else), and everything passed and it even said, 'Certified error free!'

Getting better. Did you find out anything on the BIOS?

Time for sleep for me. See you in about 8 hours.

Haven't had a chance to restart yet, but I guess you'll find out in the morning. :3

Okay, I ran the Burn-In test as well, and it passed. It passed ALL of the diagnostics, so.. I still don't know what's wrong.. ^^;
