i have a 250 gig maxtor, recently i bought a new mother board but the usb's on it were bad, the external maxtor the (250gig) plugged into the usb's it cause the folders not to be shown on windows ,,, it shows 213 gigs used and 18 gigs free which is what i had before the problem occured which means windows xp is reading it and i have done a scan and there is no physical problem with maxtor 250,, now i have a hard drive that shows no files and says that the partion is bad and yes i have tried to repair the fat32 system on it,,to no luck i know all files are there there all 218 gigs of avi's and when i do a scan with data recovery program i see the names flash by ,,the problem is i cant recover them they come out as weird type files .sys .dat files and weird ones like that please someone help cause i cant afford 4 bucks gig recover it at some shop!!!!!!there family and friends videos and weddings and b-day stuff all avi's
please someone help me
