First off, the computer doesn't automatically go into CMOS by itself. Normally you have to hit a key (Del, for example) or some other key combination to get into the CMOS. YOU have to be the one to make it go there.
Do you have the motherboard manual? If so, find the section on how it tells you to reset the CMOS with the jumper settings. The other thing you can do is remove the motherboard battery (looks like a nickel) for awhile, then put it back in. By removing the battery you will help the CMOS 'forget' it's settings and you can start from scratch.
