LOL.  I have no idea.  Technology keeps marching forward at an accelerating pace.  What computing will be like in 50 years is just beyond comprehension.  However, although some things you mentioned may sound outlandish now, I wouldn't rule out anything when thinking that far ahead.

If you told someone a few decades ago that computers had gigabyte harddrives, he'd laugh at you. Tell him we'd be living on the Moon, and he'd agree with you.....

      Computers in 50 Years?
Our Today's Super Computers will be our everyday home computers. Everything will be fast. Monitors will be no more, and keyboards will probably be glass LCD display screens so the imaging on the keyboard can change for better game controls.

      I CANT WAIT!!!  ;D

50 years?  You want to go THAT far into the future?  I believe that there won't be keyboards, and the average user will be "born" knowing how to use them. (The exception being programmers who choose computers as a way of making a living.)  The reason I think so is because I believe that computers will understand everyday language...  "Computer, bring up that one program I was using the other day..."

Imagine what school would be like! There probably wouldn't be one, it would probably be an AR machine.
You just hook a helmet up to your head for 5 minutes, and BAM! Schools over! Home-works done, and everything.
(AR: Artificial Reality, much like the one in Red Dwarf)

back to reality << me only *  In the short run, I am guessing that power supplies are just about maxed out. I think the engineering and power utilization will get much better with all this world power supply shortage crap you keep seeing on the news.   :-X

Imagine them in 100, or 200 years, this is no surprise, everything upgrades as generations go by. Sooner or later everything will be electronically power'd and everyone will be obese from lack of exercise, therfore creating a new form of the human being.

I believe keyboards such as those are already available, for compatable games.

I saw something in currys today it was really really neat. It was a 38 inch Plasma screen T.V, with a PC built into it! It had an ATI grpahics card, 1 gig of DDR Ram, cant remember proceser, 160 gig of HD space, complete with keyboard, mouse and wireless networking!.
I also was flicking through the channels and saw the Gadget Show. It had this really cool keay board that was jell that you could bend anyway you want to and would still work! There was this other keyboard as well that wasnt really a keyboard. There was this webcam shaped unit that projected the keyboard onto a surface, which would be the desk, you would then just type normally as you would with a keyboard.

no, a keyboard fully made out of LCD touchpad. it won't take long until these will come into stores.
(like, u start warcraft 3 on ur pc and the keyboard changes into the character screen when u select a character! AWESOME)

What you are talking about is an over-glorified touch-screen panel ::)

I don't get the deal with these TV computers. Ok having them to manage movie files and stuff I can understand, but I don't see why that would need such good components. And a graphics card? I use my computer to play games, and my TV to watch TV...

I doubt any of you have see the TV show Dragons' Den... basically "real" really rich people listen to ordinary people's ideas and junk, and if they like it they will invest real money in it. One guy made a coffee table which had a screen on it which was a fully useable computer. The Dragons were not impressed. You had to arch over backwards just to see the screen, and why would you want one with one of these TV-computers availble. Each set cost something like £3000.... if you are that desperate for it, buy a laptop and superglue it to a table! The man who invented it, who has a wafe and children, said he was going to sell his house to fund his invention and was convinced he was going to be made a millionaire. Needless to say, none of the Dragons decided to invest.

                    Opps I'm rambling again.
