I've used phpBB but have not used YaBB, so I don't know how they compare. But, I thought I'd mention the phpBB demo at

By the way, I created a little family website about 15 months ago and put a forum in it. Initially, five of my relatives registered and a few posted a very small number of messages. But, as time went on, I was disappointed to see a lack of interest. After about 6 months of no activity, I took the site down. I hope you have a more satisfactory experience.
