Excel
« on: September 07, 2006, 08:41:24 PM »
I am using Microsoft Excel to keep track of my vehicle milage, etc.  In one part, I use the "=IF" function.  It works as I want it to.  Almost!   I was wondering if there was a way to color the results.  In other words, if it tests true, the word would be green, and if it tests false, the word would be red.  Thanks for any and all help.

The Conditional Formatting feature is what you need to use.  It's under Format (on the main menu).

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "automatically".  You can apply conditional formatting to a range of cells rather than one cell at a time.  Here's a good article on techniques for using conditional formatting: Conditional Formatting in Excel.  Hope that helps.
