    IE 7 complete

There's no more "beta" after the name, so I assume it's done. Not that I'd get it, but... ::)

I'll only get it if it's part of Windows update.

That's the only time I use Internet Explorer, anyway.

Not really, I'm quite thankful because now no one has to mess around with ActiveX in Firefox.

I just consider IE to be part of XP, but you only need it to update Windows manually. It's sort of like an update program with a lot of functions that no one really needs because they have Firefox which can do it all better.  ;)

And if you get IE Tab for FireFox, you don't need IE:

I never saw a use for that extension.

Well, for updates, and web testing. I actually have IE uninstalled at the moment and can install updates just fine. :)

To use alternative browsers for Windows updates use http://www.windizupdate.com
Don't know if anyone's already mentioned it somewhere else but it's pretty good
Found some updates Windows Updates missed and doesn't keep asking for useless updates for products you don't have
Updates are released on the site a few days after the Microsoft update site, but as far as I know that's the only downside

Just how did you 'uninstall' it?

Automatic updates will continue to work, but you can't get optional updates since you can't access Windows update..

                I can't believe I didn't think of that...  ;)

Dilbert, you do realise that only removes the shortcuts related to IE, right? I believe Windows even warns you of this when you try to do this..

Like I keep saying, IE is an integral part of Windows.

Yep, it's no longer in beta status; it's officially been released as IE7.  Anyone interested in seeing what it's like can get an idea here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/tour/fre/default.mspx

I installed it about 8 hours ago and my computer hasn't blown up.  Haven't used it a lot yet, since I do have  Firefox, but I would say it's much improved over IE6.
