Black Flickering Display problem

Hi i'm using XP Media Center on my other computer, and the graphics on the login screen are all distorted, when I login, the screen constantly flickers to a full black screen, I cannot right click, and I cannot open any programs. Some help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

What happened prior to this? Some history would be helpful, as well as specifics on the equipment.
