another wireless problem!
« on: January 10, 2007, 02:51:50 AM »
Hi, I have a Dell Dimension 3000 (I know, it's a piece of crap!) with a D-Link Airplus DWL- 120 wireless adapter. I was connected to USB port #2, on the front of the puter. I want to move it to the back , port #3, but when I do the puter doesn't recognize it and I get a "wireless adapter not connected message, but my signal strength indicator has full bars or "excellent signal" message.
What am I doing wrong???

Does any other USB hardware work in that port?

Yes all the ports work for other devices, but no matter which port I plug the wireless into I get no joy! It only works in port #2.
I guess the simple answer would be to keep it in port 2, but I need those front ports for other things like my mp3 player and such.

When it's plugged into port 2, remove it via device manager.  Then unplug it and reinstall it wherever you need.
