Radeon X1650
« on: February 14, 2007, 08:24:19 AM »
Hello All,

Just upgraded from a  ATI X600 to a X1650.  For some reason my monitor goes blank for about 1-2 seconds and comes back up(its not losingpower it just flickers for a second).  Nothing crashes,  all programs run great.  Does anyone know what can be causing this?  Should I reload all drivers?

P4 3.6 ghz
1 GB DDR ram
Win XP SP2
SATA 500GB hd

Did you remember to un-install the old drivers first ? ?

I did, and they were Omega drivers.  But I forgot to uninstall the ati control panel.  Do you think I should just uninstall and reinstall all of the drivers again?

Try doing this.
1. Download the new drivers, but do not install yet.

2. Uninstall the old display drivers via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

3. Restart.

4. Install the new drivers.

5. Restart.

OK.
Let us know.
BTW, my ATI drivers have a removal tool, the first ATI thing mentioned in Add/Remove programs.
When I click it, it removes all ATI software from my system.
You might want to try that, if you have it.
Another thing - when you reboot after uninstalling the display drivers, it'll be in a low resolution.
Don't let it bother you, it's normal.
Once you install the new drivers and reboot, it should go back to normal resolution - if it doesn't, just set it manually.

    Give . . . me . . . Twinkies . . . are they an American thing then?
Never seen or heard of them in the UK . . .
Once more, we seem to have strayed off topic . . . at least the original problem is solved and we're not messing up someone's cry for help . . .
