For the month of March we thought it would be fun to to see what media player you're primarily using to play your media files. Feel free to discuss why you think your media player is superior to all the others listed, what you primarily do it with it, or anything else you that relates to the same topic.

If you specified Other we'd all like to know what special media player you're using feel free to mention it with a link also.

* Thanks to JohnK for suggesting this topic for this months poll.

Well, I use three different media players depending on my mood and whether I'm using the computer or not...
I use Windows Media Player if I'm not using the computer for anything else, Winamp for internet radio, and Foobar for listening to music when i'm using the computer. I use Foobar the most, so that's what I voted.

Mainly, for our music library, we use Windows Media Player 11

My good laptop has Windows Media Player 10 on it

I used to have VLC on my Laptop for watching DVD's, but then I installed the Dell software that supported DVD's much better.

Quicktime has always been a pain, as well as Real Player. I dont like using those, but sometimes, you just have to.

    I voted for Other.
I primarily use Creative Mediasource Player, but I also use Winamp and VLC.
Never RealPlayer or Quicktime, I hate them with a passion. And WMP, come to that.

One might consider WMP11 close to the Vista layout, but I dont believe it is.

If you have Vista, I think it has a special theme so as to allow better "blending" with the main operating system.

You should be able to download the Windows Vista for Windows Media Player from the internet somewhere, I am sure.

--knowledge of this comes from a screen shot of Windows Vista running, so wait for someone to confirm first.

I mostly use VLC, but occasionally I will use WMP, QT, and RealPlayer. So, I voted VLC.

Got a few machines running Vista and as far as I can tell it looks identical to the WMP 11 running on XP.

I answered Windows Media Player because I believe it's the one I use most often.  I recently downloaded the portable version of VLC and installed it on a flash drive, more or less as an experiment.  I used it to play a DVD and it was fine.  For video, I have used or tested Windows Media Player, VLC, CyberLink PowerDVD (came with my DVD-ROM player), and I find them all quite adequate.

For music, I've used Windows Media Player, Creative MediaSource Player (came with my mp3 player), and Audacity.  For playing, I believe I prefer Windows Media Player (probably preferred) or Creative MediaSource Player.  For editing, Audacity is good.

For all but WMV or similar files: Creative MediaSource. I like it; it'll play just about anything. WMV's, though, lock up my PC unless I play it on WMP. I think there's a few others that MediaSource can't play, but I can't think of any off the top of my head. :)

Same here. I use Winamp for my music, and MPC for my video. MPC can play pretty much anything. I use the Combined Community Codec Pack (which comes with MPC) so I have the codeds to play back anything I come across.

Several of my friends have been trying to get me to switch to MediaMonkey for MP3 playback, but I like Winamp better...

I mainly utilize vlc as a private investigator because after pulling deleted video files out of a hard drive sometimes they arn't complete and vlc is pretty much the best one for reading incomplete video files.
