I have an old laptop I plan to use delorme gps software  just use as a GPS in my motorhome  and was wondering if I could  hook it up  with a 12v  car plug  instead of   going through a 12v dc - 120v ac inverter  the computer says 15v dc underneath any help  would be  apreciated mgw318

I believe his question was more geared towards what type of power source he could or couldn't use while in the car. However, the link you provided Soybean may be of some help. To answer your question mgw318 I don't believe it would be possible to run a laptop with a 12v car plug because of the voltage and current differences. I highly recommend you use the power converter designed for your laptop and/or a universal converter.
