Computer won't hybernate or even go to a screen saver.

Computer settings are set right in display and power settings.  It should go to a screen saver after 10 minutes then shut off the monitors at 1 hour.  Hybernate at 4 hours.

windows xp, dell computer.  Its always been that way.

Then you have something running in the background that is not allowing thwe screensaver to kick in ? ?
Installed any new programs recently ? ?

Possibilities include :
Windows update

Anti-virus

File sharing programs

E-mail client phoning home to check mail.

When asked for more info ...XP and a Dell doesn't really qualify as much.
