power failure help please

I was in the middle of doing a scan disk and the power went down now computer will not reboot while it loads xp I see a flash of the blue screen from the scan disk. How do I get that to shut down and reboot the computer? any help appreciated. thanks

when did this happen?? try making sure everything is plugged in and make sure your power supply is not dead or your hhd or something else

everything is plugged in and was working fine upto 5 minutes ago when the power went down on it while in the middle of scan disk. now it wont boot goes to black load screen cant even do safe mode or any of the modes now. It looks like it still is trying to run scan on it in the background how do I shut scan disk off and reboot?

go to your hhd manufactures website and get the diagnostic tool(burn it to a cd) and check your hhd

Would making a boot disk (CD or Floppy) allow them to use Scandisk? Or does the DOS version of Scandisk not work on NTFS?

Scandisk is a less effective diagnostic than the hard drive maker's software. For starters, it doesn't assess the S.M.A.R.T. status of the drive at all.
