hi guys,
i'm having this weird problem where my computer suddenly freezes and the blue screen appears. when i restart it, there is this message that the computer has recovered from a serious error and when i report the error it says that the issue is caused due to clkdvr.sys, this happens like once or twice a day.please help me find a solution to this problem. i

Hi Sanketh,

Can you give us more details about your system? RAM, processor etc...
Have you made any changes, software/hardware, prior to this happening?

also, I done a search on clkdvr.sys and it seems to be a DOS file...
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/76454
so it doesn't make sense that you have it with XP Home...

my computer is a lenovo 3000 N100 Core 2 Duo T 5500 processor with 512 MB RAM. I did not add any hardware before this started happening. I dont think I have recently added any new software which might cause this problem. I did a spyware/adware search, virus scan,i used PC Doctor 5 which comes with the system and nothing showed up. When the blue screen appears it talks about some kind of hardware/driver problem and I checked for driver errors in the device manager and nothing there too. this problem usually happens when i'm using accessing internet through IE browser (i have IE 6) and i'm wondering if its because of a problem with IE. i did a similar check on clkdvr.sys and i got the same page as GX44 did and i'm wondering why there should be a problem with a DOS file on Windows XP Home. and the sudden freezing and blue screen and shutting down happens only once or twice a day or sometimes even rarer than that. its been happening for the last week or so.

Have you tried searching your system for this clkdvr.sys file?

Bit of a longshot but it may just turn up... stranger things have happened...
