    CWS.feads
    « on: May 11, 2007, 05:24:17 PM »
Got a potential new client that has this little mother.  Done some "Googling" and found some very long, contorted fixes.  I wonder if any of you have come across this and fixed it short of a wipe & install.

Alan, this is the standard fix...

Download CWShredder here to its own folder.

    Update CWShredder
    • Open CWShredder and click I Agree
    • Click Check For Updates
    • Close CWShredder
    Boot into Safe Mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again, continuously tap F8.  A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Now run CWShredder.  Click I Agree, then Fix, and then Next.  Let it fix everything it asks about.  Reboot your computer back into Normal Mode.

It's fairly simple and straightforward.  However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to post a HijackThis log of your client's computer.  Infections like this tend to have friends lurking around.
