i can't see text or pictures and everything is melting in my browser...

i'm temporarily (for 2 months//) using a friend's pc and don't have an alternative.... but this pc is really lagging... i have windows 98 on it, and he won't let me put xp on here. but every website i go to, even this one melts into itself, and i can't see text that i type, so please excuse any spelling errors... but i can't view pictures either and it's just really hard to do basic work with it lol so any help orr anything would be appreciated... it has 256 mb of ram and a 2.2 p4 cpu... that's all i know of it lol

once again, i can't see my typing so please excuse the spelling errors :)

If you can't see text. I'm not sure if you're going to be able to see the answer. ;) However, it sounds as if you have some serious issues with the computer. For these types of situations where the issues could be any number of causes I recommend the users go through the basic troubleshooting steps for their version of Windows.

btw i just figured out that when i maximise a window or minimise it etc. the text gets reset and i can see it until there's new text, or a new page etc. but i still can't seeanything else... i will try the link tho thanx :), but it's still really hard to find the post button! lol

Although mentioned in the link I mentioned earlier, just in case you missed it definitely try to make sure you've got the latest video drivers on this computer as well.

i also forgot to mention that i'm in holland temporarily (which is why i'm using a friend's computer) and it's a dutch windows 98, so i can only find defrag because i don't really understand the rest of what windows says lol... :( :-X :-X :-[ ???

i left a lot out didn't i? i ALSO ALSO forgot to mention that it's an LCD and it's fairly new, but i can see everthing that doesn't involve IE or pictures... like i can see the desktop and al the basics ok, and the area where any pictures are meant to be is just white...

apparently my drivers are up to date, because apparently i can't get any and there weren't any there to begin with... apparently... i'm saying that all the time because that doesn't seem right, but it's what the pc says...
