ip address
« on: June 29, 2007, 08:45:51 AM »
when i go into "cmd" dos screen and type in "ipconfig" there are all zero's where my ip address is supposed to be.  I have all the numbers I need and when i go into "network connections" and click on the wireless connection i have and go into properties and go into "internet protocol" and put the adresses in, they do not take.  How can I put my ip address back into my computer??????  Thanks for any help.  I talked to my internet support and they told me my wireless card was bad, i changed it and still have the same problem.

What type of connection do you have?
What hardware is used to connect to the internet, is a network been set up?

If your sure all your hardware is connected properly (double check just to be sure) try going to command prompt and typing:

ipconfig /renew

then hit enter. see if that helps...

No probs...

couple more questions

Is there a router involved or does the computer connect directly to the internet?

Also, can you give details of your OS, protection, any software or hardware changes before this happened?

Might have gotten more attention in Networking, but.......
In the connections properties, set the DHCP server and gateway to the routers IP address.
