Even if what contrex posted wasn't explained with the best tact, it is still very true and good advice. The best and cheapest way to learn any operating system is to play with it and research it. I understand that posting on a forum is a type of research and can sometimes be the fastest means, but it will be very extremely difficult to find someone online that will have the time and patience to teach you everything you want to know.
There are, however, thousands of tutorials and books and webpages that have been written to assist in linux education. And I will probably pass on a lot more pointers when you need them just because I'm a nice guy, but am by no means a guru.

i dont understand..
r u telling me to unsubscribe or r u goin to unsubscribe....

the latter. i felt there was nothing more I could usefully contribute. Plenty of people have pointed to good online tutorials, and there are always the man pages. ("RTFMP!" is a comment often seen on Linux newsgroups) If anybody thinks I have been unhelpful, I apologise, but I do stand by what i said. Linux has an amzing amount of built in and online help, but you do need the attitude of mind to enable you to make the best use of it.

Lurk in alt.linux

Good advice about learning linux from there...

create about a 4 gig unformated parition or install a second drive
and install something like Mandrake. Goto the distribution you
pick and check the hardware compatibility list against your hardware.

Pick out what you want to learn and then pick another item to learn.
There are over 3,000 programs so do not try to learn everything
in a week.

very large faq search engine

best way learn linux    in the first box

*linux*                 in the Newsgroup box, pick english
