kick out of useless batch files
« on: July 11, 2007, 10:14:59 AM »
I was using a cd burning program when i realized i can get a kick out of watching my cd drive open and close without touching it. I must have sat there for 15 minutes and i kept opening/closing it. Is there a command i can use for this so i can watch my disc trays go crazy? that would be so cool

Try something like this - http://www.wineject.com/features.en.php

You might be able to figure out how to do it via command line.

dude... everything this fella does is ''suspicious''..

if he was really doing anything wrong he wouldn't be posting about it.. or would he.. maybe that's his logic and he knows we'd think like that, so he's posting to make us think otherwise... or maybe he really isn't but we just think he is because we think he actually is because he's pretending he's not...

too right buddy ;D
my point exactly.
if you wanted to wreck a cd drive, you would have used the approach i did back in my days of middle school = a screwdriver + a CD drive + my hands = an angry teacher, $30 out of my wallet, and suspension >.<
all worth it to get out of class i thought at the time lol... now i regret it though... i could have used that $30 for more screwdrivers..

EDIT: lol i'm not saying i approve of this nasty slaughtering of cd drives, nor am i trying to tell anyone they should try it >.<
phew! that's my disclaimer out of the way :)

yeah i do think that that sounds stupid but how would an open close open close lead me to murdering hardware. I still dont understand why  everyone hates all my topics/posts. Everyone thinks im up to something that im not. to tell you the truth right before i replied to this i was trying to make a simple DOS text editor, not like any kind or virus or fake virus or hackage program or w/e. Also im not even in school and its summer and beating up the school computers is stupid. my stepdad is a principle in my district and he would find out about it if i did. trust me ive been in trouble at school many time for writing dirty notes, threats, bringing porn and all kinds of stuff i would never do again. no im rambling on about god know what. lol how did i even manage to type this much about basically nothing. i gotta end this ;D

Who made Vista?

And with the CD drive thing, it would freak out a low level computer user. They would think it's like possessed or something...

You have stated in more than one post that you want to learn things for the sake of showing off and having people "fear" you.  You have also expressed interest in wanting to prank people by creating a fake virus.  Such activities are what make us question your motives.  You want to do this just so you can sit there and watch your tray open and close repeatedly (which probably isn't a good idea for your drive)?  If you're that desperate to be amused, I've got a nice shiny nickel you can toss around.

is it bad etiquette to call someone teh suXX0R? Because if it is, i won't. But that's what I think of drawer-ejecting pranks.

actually the command im asking for is not a prank, its a command and was not inteded as a prank at all. and anyway
...just so you can sit there and watch your tray open and close repeatedly (which probably isn't a good idea for your drive)?...
I changed my mind, i dont want to break it or anything.

Sometimes the PC is under the desk or whatever and you don't want to keep leaning over to press the eject button or push the drawer in, so a batch util to open & shut the drawer can be handy.

However we have had queries from infantile schoolboy pranksters who think it is funny to open and shut classmates or teacher's CD tray, hence my suspicion. Sorry if i was wrong...

if you have Nero installed you have Nerocmd.exe which is a command line utility

If your cd drive letter was X: then these commands would do what they suggest

nerocmd --eject --drivename x

nerocmd --load --drivename x

You have to either have nerocmd.exe on your PATH or else include the full path to nerocmd.exe

If you want to open and close your cd drive, try this useful little program.
