« on: July 31, 2007, 07:13:19 AM »
Hot on the heels of the 2.0.0.5 update comes 2.0.0.6.
I've noticed no issues as yet, just updated today.

Huh. That is right on the heels of .5. Seems like just last week I updated. Guess it's good they got the URI vulnerability fixed already.

It doesn't take long to update Firefox, how many do you need to update?
I have 3 to do (mine, the family's, and my portable one) and it takes maybe 10 minutes, max.

I think it's commendable how effective Open Source can be....

Unfortunately i've read they plan to spin off TBird. But we'll see

    I'll post a link.

    Agreed.
Speaking of Thunderbird, v2.0.0.6 was released too.
Seems to follow Firefox almost exactly.
And I'd be interested to read this link when you have time to get it.

I have to say, I don't want to see any of those happening to TBird.
But whatever happens, I sincerely hope it doesn't affect the quality of TBird, it's a great program and I don't want to see it go down the drain.
We'll have to wait and see, it might not even happen.

Not to worry too much there Calum...
I remember running a version of Netscape 4.1 i believe for 3 years or so with no problems at all.
It was the predecessor of what's now FireFox but on sheer principle i refused to have anything to do with AOL and they had bought Netscape out.
Matter of fact i still use the Composer component to build and refine web pages...it was part of the browser package.

Netscape was pretty good, but a bit before my time I think.
AOL messed it up though, I remember using AOL browser which was based on Netscape and hating it every day.  Then Firefox came along and saved my sanity . . . what little was left.
Back to the point, I see where you're coming from there.
    Thanks for the reassurance.

I can understand the need to focus more on Firefox, but I personally don't like the sounds of Mozilla spinning off Thunderbird. It always seems like the project or program is abandoned when its sent to be handled by other developers / company.

Hopefully it just improves both great products.

FireFox doesn't seem to like this setup. There was an issue posted at the Mozilla Forums about the very same thing...
I'll try and digout the link.

Thanks but do not bother searching it is to slow at my computer.
Or could that be the reason Why FireFox is that slow too?
IE7 is much faster but I'll like FireFox!
