Nero Express
« on: August 07, 2007, 04:01:23 PM »
I'm trying to create a boot disc with a normal 700MB disc. I have all the files I want to be put on the disc there, but when I go to the final step I get this:

So... it wants a floppy. How can I just use a disc? If I can't is there a different type of floppy called a "bootable floppy" or can I just go buy some floppy discs and use them for this?

Start Nero Burning ROM instead of Express.
    Select CD-ROM (boot).
From the Boot tab select "image File" (Nero should have a image file you can use.)
Press new, add your files and burn.

     Thanks :)

umm.. where is Nero Burning ROM? :P
I'm sorry, I don't see that anywhere. I'm in the "ahead' folder & I can't find that anywhere, I'm also on Nero Express.. looking to see if that's an option or something & I can't seem to find that either.

Uhhh... are you looking in your start menu or the folder where you've installed nero?

        EDIT:
Ahh you're using an older version of Nero than me... but it should still work.
Either try looking in the "other CD formats" part of the wizard or close the wizard and start a new compilation from the file menu.

My computer got killed & I just need to run Norton Disk Doctor so it'll fix it.. theres a ton of apps, .exe, .UHA, MS-DOS files n such & I know nothing about making a bootdisc..

The default settings should be fine.

In my version of Nero there is already a image preselected. Try looking in your Nero folder for an IMG file.

I don't mind sharing it but it might be seen as sharing copyrighted content.
Plus mine is a IMA file instead of a IMG.

But you could use the method described by Nero Express. You'll need a blank floppy and then do this:
            Quote
            Create MS-DOS bootable diskette
When formatting a floppy diskette, users have the option of creating a MS-DOS startup disk, follow the below steps to do this.

            1. Place diskette in the computer.
            2. Open My Computer, right click the A: drive and click Format.
            3. In the Format window, check Create an MS-DOS startup disk.
            4. Click Start

Then just keep it in the diskette drive while creating a boot disc with Nero Express.

From this window click on browse and point it to the Windows directory and click next...it should choose it automatically or you may need to point it to your XP CD.

Do a search of  *.ima...then point Nero to that directory for the boot file.
