    Changing PC to wireless
    « on: September 23, 2007, 08:37:48 AM »
    Good morning everyone
I've just installed a TP-Link wireless card into my Dell Dimensions 2400, and have XP,
I'm using a Westell 327w wireless gateway, my computer shows I;m getting a very good signel from the router - but will not comunicate back to the router, what am I missing here ?.
Any help would be great and much appriciated.
    Thank you for your time.
    William

Have you looked in your router admin panel to see what security settings are in effect in the router?  If WEP or WPA security settings are in effect in the router, you need to set the security settings in your computer to correspond to the router.

      Hi Soybean
Thank you for your reply, my admin panel won't let me see the security settings, it keeps asking me for my user and password, and I haven;t a clue what they are - or how to retreve them, at this point I am stuck, I've tried every user and password I can think of to no avail.

Soybean and Patio, thank you very much for your time and help, Soybean - the default list you gave did not have my gateway on it, so what I did was what I should have done from the very beginning, I called verizon's help desk and they had me connected wireless in under ten minutes, DUH.
The big plus side is - going WI-FI with the PC, it is just as fast as before, no bad side affects at all.
        Thank you again
