You have two instances of AVG installed, or what?

Why do you ask, if I have two AVG applications? I had it installed on the 29th of August. It appeared to be running to me. I would do that update thing then it would automatically scan and report back no whatevers found.

However, I put my machine in the local repair shop and they Installed Spy-Bots, Lavasoft, Turned off my updates program and Upgraded AVG to 7.5. When I got the computer back a week later I never noticed that AVG wasn't doing what it usually did. So, Microsoft uninstalled it and installed another copy that tells me; "It might be out of date."

Do I have two copies? Sorry Broni, I have no idea.

casse is that MicroWin a Microtel product ? ?
All the info i found on it suggests it is for a Corporate server enviornment...it may be a little beefy for your needs.
At any rate it looks like a bear to configure properly.

:) I probably should have done this, Microsoft/Windows Security Firewall.

Do you guys get a lot of people in here like me. It truly is my opinion that if this country has a computer in every home, at least 85-90% of those homes would not have viable computer maintenance knowledge.

I look at the word "Configure" on my Lavasoft and have no idea what to do when I click it. I'm sorry I can't be of more help today. However, tomorrow i hope to have any paperwork that came this this machine and maybe be of more help.

Btw, I truly take advantage if the help offered by both Microsoft and AOL Techs. Perhaps to the detriment of my machine but nonetheless, I rely on them.

Oh yes! I'm always willing to learn. But you have no idea how much iIve learned in the past 21/2-3 months. What scares me is when I see a post by someone who was building his own machine or doing so inside work then screwed things up. If they knew what they were doing, what shot in heck do I have. So I try and soak things up for when I get my next machine. I scan a lot of the threads in here and listen to what is said to me, even if I'm a chicken and scared to trust my machine.

          I'm :( , I know.

People make mistakes...and sometimes rush into things. That's usually when things go South.
So if you ask the right questions and follow thru with the suggestions you should usually see success.
Again it's all part of the learning process...

So find me an old version of HijackThis and I'll seriously consider running it.

            Ver. 1.99

But you need not be concerned with Spybot flagging it...they have already acknowledged this bug and are working on a fix.
Disable Spybot temporarily and go ahead and run it...
DO NOT let it fix anything until consulted...save the scan to a text file and post it in the Virus and Spyware section.
You may have to chop it up into more than one post...

I love that you think I know what you're talking about. I don't even know which prompt to click on patio. I'm telling you, I don't know an nth of what you know. Draw a picture, send pigeons with instructions, something.

I've got to go make an event soon. If I don't answer a post, I'm out.

              Thanks!
