Connection Issues
« on: November 03, 2007, 11:07:21 AM »
Hi guys,
Yesterday I left AIM, a video on my browser, and a game running and when I came back an hour later all three connections were shot.  Everything else works, but the game won't connect, that specific site won't load videos, and my AIM won't work.  Any ideas?

XP Professional.  It's my school laptop.  System restore was off so that's not an option.

Now that I noticed it's off I has it on, yes.  I'm using Mozilla Firefox, and everything works fine it's just those three things I had running when the problem occurred.  AIM will not login, Youtube will not play videos (other sites still do), and the game will not log in.

It looks like some settings got messed up.
Try TCP Optimizer (http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php) to get back to normal.

I selected "Optimal Settings" and ran it, then rebooted.  Still not working, am I missing something with that program?

No, you did well...
I hate to ask you, because I really dislike IE, but will IE do same thing (except for AIM, of course)?
BTW...this is some on-line game, right?

Yes, IE does the same thing.  First time I've run it in years, lucky me!  Yes, the game is online, but not browser based.

Resetting modem/router? Not through that pinhole, but disconnect fro power for 30sec.

Been trying for ages.  Whenever I start it on Safe Mode I can't login with my username.  Must have to do with my college's network.
