Apple Ipod
« on: November 04, 2007, 10:52:52 AM »
I have just transferred some music from an original cd onto my pc using some software called 'switch' (to transfer the format to mp3). I have then added these tracks to iTunes and sync'd with my Ipod...how do i get the CD title and tracks titles to show? At present they are showing as Track 1,2,3 etc.

Please Help

Mark

just simply, before or after uploading (doesnt matter), rename the song.

If you must use iTunes, it should be able to copy a CD to your computer for you. It should also convert your audio to a iPod compatible format.

You bought the iPod, now deal with iTunes.  Alright!?

But yes, you can use your iPod without iTunes.  Only, it becomes a lot more like an external hard drive, than a music player.

      Explanation:
When you plug an iPod into a Mac, an icon should appear on the desktop. Open it, it looks just like it does when you put a CD in, or view the contents of your Hard drive
In Windows, plug it into your computer, go to My Computer, and it should be in there somewhere
      Open it

Somewhere on the iPod, there should be music. The folder its located in is the folder your iPod stores its music in, add/change/remove music in this folder, dont mess around with the other folders.

I remember reading somewhere that the "music" stored on your iPod isn't all that accessible without iTunes, seeing as the iPod is merely an interface for iTunes...or something like that.

There is software that lets you rip your tunes off the iPod, called "Copy Pod"...not sure how legal it is...

There are many ways to do it.
One of them is SharePod 3:

I thought Windows Media Player could handle an iPod though

I never tried, so I can't comment, but apparently, there is also Winamp add-on, which is supposed to handle IPod, as well.

          You could try this..........
open ITUNES......go to your library folder........click on track 1.............right click it and select "get info"........
now a folder opens up and if you go to the info tab you can insert all the pertinent info of that particular track, obviously you will have to know all that info once you are there..........if you can get a copy of the cd cover you can copy and paste it into the artwork tab in that info folder. when you are done click ok and it will be located in your itunes library as whatever track 1 was changed to. .......do this for each track and then sync your ipod..........itshould then recognize all the tracks you changed to its new names.

The "get cd info" option on the advanced menu is quite handy...
