how to open .exe files through web browser.

I want to use some in-built services of windows like calculator,notepad,MS-word or excel sheet in my
web application . To be more clear , when user clicks some link, new word file should be opened.
  I have seen sometimes adobe file opens in browser itself.How all these results can be achieved.
  also how to open .exe files through web browser.
