Hey i am running xp and my internet exploer and my desktop icons look all like there in blocks and the quailty is just terrible and i just installed the new nvidia driver and it still looks bad i went into computer setting where you select the background and other stuff and nothing is working

no it has been this way for about two days since i got the computer running but i did get a new monitor

well this is a totally dif problam than any other ones. and no it started even with the old monitor

When you still had your old monitor, do you remember doing anything special, when your problem started?
Your new monitor is brand new? CRT, or LCD?
Also, you have to try your video card in OK working computer.

no i don't think i did i installed xp and it has always looked just like in blocks and the video card is runnning good it has all the new drivers installed on it so im kinda stuck on how to make this thing look good ,oh yeah and it's also and LCD

Nothing really it was just an older computer and i just needed to put in a new hard drive and power supply and then you helped me fix the ethernet driver(thanks) and now it runs like new ecept the screen quailty is crappy i would compare it to something like, if you were to just plug in cable with the cable wire into your hd tv .. the picture would suck and it would be worse quality than your sdtv. but i totally don't know how to make the screen look good when i saw it on display at the store it looked good but since i brought it home it just looks like crap

Maybe just the colours/resolution/refresh rate aren't set to the monitor's native settings? Look in the manual and set them to what it says.

I am also having screen problems with my windows XP. My pages are choppy, they break up as I scroll, the page will pause and scroll pause and scroll. I cant play games at all and its a pain to surf the net? Does anyone know what my problem could be? This happened right after I uninstalled some software. I dont know if this is related and how I even check? could someone help me?

What is your video card name, and model?
Did you install monitor drivers (CD, that come with monitor)?

No I bought this computer used so there was no CD's or informational tools with it. It was running very slow so I uninstalled a bunch of programs and then it started with the scrolling and reading problem. As far as the the Model and stuff I dont know how to even look for that but I have an "explora GS28E" from everex. Microsoft home edition

Yeah i got the monitor cd and it gives me a list of drives but they ask me which program to open them with and i say to let windows use the internet to find the rite one and it comes back as unknown file and i have a nvidia fx 5200 as the video card i think i'll repost it if im wrong

no it gives me the main screen and when i press install driver it open up the files on the cd and there are like 15 or so and when i try and run any of them it just says it dosent know what program to use

Go to Device manager, right click on your monitor, click Update Driver, and point it to the CD.
What is the make, and model of that monitor?

it's a proview wide scrren 19' in lcd monitor 1440x900 aspect ratio ,and is the device manager in the start up menu?

Well it says that i have all the most updated stuff in device manager and when i download the file from the site i get the same list as always so i right click on the icon's and they give me the option to uninstall the icc profile, so does that mean i have all the updated things on it?

It doesn't matter what it says. Click on Update driver, and point installation wizard toward your CD location.

You're doing something wrong.
When you right click on your monitor in Device Manager, and click Update Driver, what is the very next screen, that opens up?

ok i click on monitor's and click update driver and then it goes to the hardware update wizard and it gives me the options of can windows conect to windows update to search for software then i click yes this time then next screen it says this will help you find software for plug and play monitor :if your harddick came with an installtion cd or floppy insert now " so i put the cd in i go to advance and tell it to search the cd for updates and software it searches for awhile and it says the wizard could not find a better match

ok well now it it says under monitors in device manager 19inch lcd 926 w
but when i was selecting it windows said that it was not digitally signed but i did it anyway and it says it's done but it looks no dif to me

I went to the site and it says i have the current driver ,Maybe i just have a bad monitor i'm gonna switch it out with my other lcd monitor from a dif comp and see if it still looks bad then i know it's not the monitor itself

It doesn't matter. Download, and install it anyway. Your driver may be corrupted.

Welll i did everything i think and i switched out the monitor's and it still looks the same ,what i think my be the thing is that xp just dosent look as sharp as vista does and since i used vista for such a long time i just kinda forgot what xp looked like.Have you used both vista and xp and do they look dif on monitors?

OS shouldn't have any influence on quality of your screen display.

maybe i'm just crazy lol but look at the top of the internet exploer it looks like there are light colors above it and it looks like the desktop icons are in squares
