I have wmp11 and it has always worked, now I can only rip not burn. Under the burn tab it says to connect a drive. The burner works for other things. Any ideas? I did a disk defrag, could that have done anything?

I tried reinstalling wmp11 but that didn't work. Anybody got anything?

Is your CD drive shown in the 'devices' tab (Tools > options > devices)?

Yes, it's in the device list.

What version of Windows are you using?

Anything indicating an error in device manager for this device?

I found some help from some other forums like starting the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service, reinstalling the drive, reinstalling the IMAPI 1,5 driver, etc... but none worked. Came across a further post in that thread were someone had recently downloaded some music software from MAGIX, this is what I have done also. He got support from MAGIX and they have some reg fixes. http://download.magix.net/windows_2000_xp_registry_fix_uk.zip
Ran the two regs and rebooted.
Problem solved!
