    Wireless Network combined with wired
    « on: February 19, 2008, 01:45:20 AM »
I currently have a wired network with a server running Windows Server 2000, I was given 20 new PCs that need to be connected wirelessly.
I know I have to get a wireless NIC for my server, do I need any other hardware?

I'm still a beginner at this so if anyone could help that would be great!

    Thank you

No, you don't need a wireless NIC for server. You need an access point (connected through a wire to the rest of the wired network) and a wireless NIC for each computer that will be connected by wireless to your network. As access point you may use a wireless router that can be set up to work only as an access point (please check this detail before acquiring a wireless router).

Any known brand: Linksys, D-Link, Belkin, will do.
