Are there any messages in the screen or its just that, blue with black stripes. And where were you in the repair process?

And what is the OS you're using?

THERE IS NO MESSAGE. IT JUST TURNS OFF LIKE. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF DOWNLOADING ALL MY DRIVERS WHEN THIS STARTED

MY KEYBOARD DOESN' WORK UNLESS MY PUTER IS RUNNING, MY KEYBOARD SHUTS DOWN WHEN MY MONITOR GOES BLANK. COULD IT BE DUE TO MY POWERSOURCE. AND IF SO WHERE IS IT LOCATED.

OK capslock is gone.
Try to connect problem monitor to working computer (laptop?), and see, if same thing happens. If so, monitor went south. If not...we'll go from there.

I'm no expert(you can see I also have a boot problem) but I'll take a guess and say it might have something to do with the video card?

Have you tried re-installing XP?
This will format your hard drive and unless there is a virus in the boot sector of the H/D it hopefully should work.

Only my guess but seems to be the problem.
Maybe the video card is kaput!

How old is your computer anyway?

it's about 3 yrs old. to connect monitor to laptop, there is no place to connect it to. if it is the vedeo card
where is it located. yes i have tried to reinstall windows xp. if i do get it to come on at all it goes blank again
soon after. i have noticed that if my yellow blinking light will stay on it does fine but if the light goes out my monitor goes blank or turns blue with black lines.and yes i had 2 viruses, that is why i had to go in and reboot or repair my puter.

my puter is 3 yrs old. yes i have tried reinstalling xp. someone said it could have had a virus in my hd. or it could be my video card. all i know is that sometimes i can turn it on and start to reinstall then it goes blank again. i hace to play with the button or unplug it for it to turn back on and if the yellow blinking light on it isn't blinking it won't come on, but the fans are running.

The only other thing, you can try is to use different monitor cable. If that doesn't help, I'd say, your monitor went south.

my monitor does work. i had to turn it off then restart it and it came up fine. i reconnected it too my desktop and turned on, it has a picture and is trying to reenstall but i think it has froze again

another strange thing is if the lights on my keyboard doesn't blink then i know the monitor won't show

yes, i just had the desktop on and the monitor worked but the puter froze so i had to shut it down to restart it but now it won't start, i should say nothing comes on but the fans.

OK, we're getting somewhere.
Restart your computer in Safe Mode - after restart keep tapping F8 key, until menu with Safe Mode option appears.
Select Safe Mode. It may take a while before Windows comes up.
Will your monitor have a display?

ok, if that is what it might be then how do i finish installing if it won't stay on ot it freezes. like now it froze then the page turned white and now i can't get it back on.the fans come on but that is all

it is 2005-6 emachine t6211,3200+amd athlon 64 processor,160gb hd,ati radeon express 200/ dvd+/-rw, 512mb ddr sdram. i had put a sim card slot into it when we got it cause we were on the road alot and needed the internet. i took it out last night but it didn't change anything. since it turned white i can't get it to come back up.

Unfortunately, your computer has on-board video chipset, so there is no way to test it, but I believe, this is your problem.
You have two options: borrow a real video card from a friend, or buy real video card. There are not expensive. You may get one for ~$50.

I can't find on Emachines web page what brand of hard drive you have installed, so...
Download, and install Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
Open it, click Computer, then Summary.
In upper menu, go Report>Quick Report-Summary
Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Don't include anything under line Debug - PCI

If you have a burner on your laptop, download Ultimate Boot CD: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
Burn it to CD, and boot your desktop from it. It'll let you test all kind of things, including hard drive, and RAM.

sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. i found out what kind and type of hard drive i have. it is a seagate sata 7200. you said i could download that to a disc and run it on my puter. also in everest, what part do i need to put on disc, there are a couple of them

Yeah, make that Ultimate Boot CD, and there is Seagate diagnostic tool on it. You'll be able to test whole bunch of other things.
