BLUE PAGE WITH BLACK LINES..

it's about 3 yrs old. to connect monitor to laptop, there is no place to connect it to. if it is the vedeo card
where is it located. yes i have tried to reinstall windows xp. if i do get it to come on at all it goes blank again
soon after. i have noticed that if my yellow blinking light will stay on it does fine but if the light goes out my monitor goes blank or turns blue with black lines.and yes i had 2 viruses, that is why i had to go in and reboot or repair my puter.

What yellow blinking light are you talking about?

my puter is 3 yrs old.  yes i have tried reinstalling xp. someone said it could have had a virus in my hd. or it could be my video card. all i know is that sometimes i can turn it on and start to reinstall then it goes blank again. i hace to play with the button or unplug it for it to turn back on and if the yellow blinking light on it isn't blinking it won't come on, but the fans are running.

it's a light that comes on when my cd,dvd rom or hd is running.and i see the connection for my monitor on my laptop
  i have connected the monitor to my laptop,but how do i get to come on cause i turned on the monitor

Does monitor works OK with your laptop?

no it doesn't come on.when i turn it off then back on the is a no signal message

The only other thing, you can try is to use different monitor cable. If that doesn't help, I'd say, your monitor went south.

my monitor does work. i had to turn it off then restart it and it came up fine. i reconnected it too my desktop and turned on, it has a picture and is trying to reenstall but i think it has froze again   another strange thing is if the lights on my keyboard doesn't blink then i know the monitor won't show

Monitor works fine with laptop, but not with desktop, right?

yes, i just had the desktop on and the monitor worked but the puter froze so i had to shut it down to restart it but now it won't start, i should say nothing comes on but the fans.

OK, we're getting somewhere.
Restart your computer in Safe Mode - after restart keep tapping F8 key, until menu with Safe Mode option appears.
Select Safe Mode. It may take a while before Windows comes up.
Will your monitor have a display?

i did that last night and a message came up saying that windows was not install all the way to restart and finish installing.  could my on/off button have something to do with it or what

What happened? It didn't finish? This may be one of your problems.

ok, if that is what it might be then how do i finish installing if it won't stay on ot it freezes. like now it froze then the page turned white and now i can't get it back on.the fans come on but that is all
