I am trying to format my computer using the format c: command.  After I enter the command, it asks for a volume command.  I am not sure what to enter.  Can you help?

What do you mean with volume command? Could you post your screen output?

hey,

am taking you created a nuke disk, nuked your computer, did a fdisk and created a partition and then the format stage.

when it says volume command, is this after its completed 100% and says numbers to you. depending on the size of your hard disk it might say 6,000,000 kb

and says, would you like to give the drive a label. hit enter for none?

am not sure what it means to be perfectlly honest, i think it just means giving it a label.

the times i have formated, i would hit return at this stage, does that sound similar to what has happened to you?

You are completely right. You can just give a name to your drive. If you do not specify one, nothing happens  ;)
